Parsons is the Geospatial Technologist of Google, with responsibility for evangelizing Google’s mission to organize the world’s information using geography, and tools including Google Earth, Google Maps and Google Maps for Mobile. In his role, Parsons also maintains links with universities, research and standards organizations which are involved in the development of Geospatial Technology. He currently is co-chair of the W3C/OGC Spatial Data on the Web Working Group. Parsons is based in Google's London office. He holds a Masters degree in Applied Remote Sensing from Cranfield Institute of Technology, and holds an Honorary Doctorate in Science from Kingston University, London.
